Our company just created a dedicated talent acquisition team, but leadership keeps using it interchangeably with recruiting. What exactly is talent acquisition, and what makes it a long-term strategic function compared to regular hiring?

Talent acquisition is a long-term approach that involves attracting, developing, and hiring qualified candidates who meet future organizational needs. Recruiting, however, refers to the quick process of identifying and hiring candidates to fill existing job positions.

Talent acquisition is a long-term strategy focused on attracting, building, and retaining skilled employees to meet future business needs. It includes employer branding, workforce planning, and creating a strong pipeline of candidates.
Recruiting, on the other hand, is a short-term process aimed at filling immediate job openings—posting jobs, screening candidates, and making hires.
Difference: Talent acquisition is strategic and ongoing, while recruiting is tactical and role-specific.
