what is VTO?

I recently came across the term “what is vto” in a workplace discussion but didn’t fully understand it. Is it related to time off or volunteering? How is it used in companies? Would appreciate if someone could explain with examples.

VTO usually means Voluntary Time Off, a term commonly used in workplaces (like warehouses or customer support jobs) where employees are given the option to leave early or skip a shift without pay when there’s less work. I’ve mostly seen it used in companies like Amazon, where managers offer VTO to reduce workload during slow periods.

VTO (Voluntary Time Off) is an optional unpaid leave employees can take, usually offered by employers during low workload periods, allowing staff to take time off without using paid leave.
