How many weekend days are in a year — does it change annually?

I'm building a leave planner and need to confirm how many weekend days are in a year. A standard year has 104 (52 Saturdays + 52 Sundays), but does the starting weekday or a leap year change that count? Has anyone calculated this for 2026 specifically?

Yes, it changes slightly every year. Most years have 104 weekend days because there are 52 weeks × 2 weekend days. But depending on how the calendar falls, some years can have 105 or even 106 weekend days, especially in leap years or when the year starts/ends on a weekend.

A year usually has 104 weekend days, because there are 52 weeks in a year and each week has two weekend days (Saturday and Sunday). However, this can change slightly depending on how the calendar falls. In some years, there may be 105 or 106 weekend days if the year starts or ends on a weekend.

Yes, the number of weekend days will vary slightly from year to year. There are 52 weeks in a normal year and 104 weekend days (52 Saturdays and 52 Sundays). During a leap-year, or according to the date that the year begins, there may be 105 or even 106 weekend days. Thus, it is dependent on the calendar every year.

Yes, the number of weekend days in a year can change slightly. Most years have about 104 weekend days (52 Saturdays and 52 Sundays), but leap years or the way dates fall on the calendar can sometimes make it 105 or 106 days.
