How many hours per week is officially considered part time?

I've been offered a part-time position but the offer letter doesn't specify a minimum number of hours. Is there a legal or standard definition for part-time hours? Does it vary by country, industry, or employer? How does it affect benefits eligibility?

There’s no single universal rule, but part-time work is generally considered anything under 35–40 hours per week. In many companies, employees working less than 30–35 hours weekly are classified as part-time, while 40 hours is typically full-time. The exact cutoff depends on the employer and local labor laws, so it can vary by company or country.
