How do you describe contract employment?

Can someone describe contract employment and how it differs from permanent roles? What are the pros and cons for employees? Does it usually include benefits or job security? Looking for insights.

"I'd describe contract employment as flexible, but often unpredictable. You've got the freedom to choose your projects and work at your own pace, but you're not guaranteed a steady income or benefits. It's great for those who thrive in uncertainty and are willing to take calculated risks – but not ideal for everyone, that's for sure."

Contract employment is basically a temporary work setup where you’re hired for a specific project or fixed period instead of a permanent role; once the contract ends, the job usually ends too unless it’s renewed. In my experience, it gives more flexibility and sometimes better pay, but you don’t always get the same job security or benefits as full-time employees.

Contract employment is a situation in which a person is given the job to carry out a particular task, take a certain position, or work for a definite time only after signing a formal contract. Up to that point, they remain totally different from permanent employees who are with the company indefinitely. Contract workers are for example engaged for certain periods such as three months or one year based on the needs of the company. Besides being the only way of engagement, a contract is the main element of employment relations which essentially contains job description, terms of payment, deadlines and working environment. Contract employees can be either hired directly by the company or indirectly through a staffing agency. This employment arrangement gives greater freedom to employers as well as to the professionals particularly when it comes to highly skilled work or short-term projects.
