I’m trying to understand what is vicarious liability and how it applies in the workplace. When can an employer be held responsible? Some real-life examples would help.

It basically means an employer can be held legally responsible for what their employees do on the job, so if an employee causes harm or does something wrong while working, the company can get sued too even if they had no idea it was happening.

Vicarious liability is a legal principle where one person or organization is held responsible for the actions or wrongdoing of another person. It commonly applies in workplaces, where an employer may be liable for the actions of an employee if the act occurred during the course of their job duties. This rule helps ensure that victims can seek compensation from the responsible organization.

Vicarious liability is a legal principle where one person or entity is held responsible for the actions or negligence of another, usually in an employer-employee relationship, when the wrongful act occurs within the scope of employment or authority thereof applies.
