How Employee Discounts Work in Companies

I want to understand how employee discounts work in companies. Are these part of salary benefits or separate perks? Do all companies offer them? Would love to hear real examples.

Employee discounts are basically special price cuts companies offer their staff on their own products or through partner brands, usually as a perk to boost satisfaction and loyalty; in most places I’ve seen, you either get a fixed percentage off, access to a private portal, or a code you can use at checkout, and sometimes there are limits like how often you can use it or restrictions on resale, but overall it’s a simple benefit that helps employees save a bit on everyday purchases.

Employee discounts are company-provided price reductions on products or services, offered as a benefit. Employees access them via codes, IDs, or portals, with limits, eligibility rules, and exclusions depending on company policy.

It varies by company but usually you either get a percentage off their products or access to a discount portal, it's just a perk to keep employees happy and it's separate from your salary.
