What is the meaning of peers in a workplace context?

I keep hearing the term peers at work and in school. What exactly does peers mean, and how is it commonly used in everyday situations?

In a workplace, peers means people at a similar job level or role as you, such as coworkers, teammates, or colleagues who work alongside you.

Your peers are basically just your coworkers who are on the exact same level as you in the company hierarchy. It is the people you collaborate with daily rather than the managers you report to!

"Hey, in a workplace context, peers are basically colleagues at the same level as you. You'll often collaborate, share ideas, and support each other to achieve common goals."

In a workplace context, peers are coworkers who are at a similar job level, rank, or position within an organization. They typically have comparable responsibilities and do not directly supervise one another. For example, two marketing specialists working on the same team would be considered peers because they hold similar roles and work alongside each other.
