I noticed the term “NCP days” in payroll and salary-related documents. Can someone explain what it means and how it affects salary calculations? Please share examples if possible.

NCP Days in payroll processing stands for "Non-Contributory Period" days. These are days on which an employee does not qualify for salary-related contributions, typically due to unpaid leave, absent without pay, suspension, or leave exceeding the approved paid limits. Payroll departments utilize NCP days to figure out deductions, modify monthly salary, and calculate contributions towards the benefits like provident fund or insurance, as per the company policy and local labor laws.

In payroll processing, NCP days usually mean “Non-Contributing Period” days. These are the days an employee is unpaid or not eligible for salary contributions, like leave without pay (LWP), absences, or suspension days. I’ve mostly seen it used in PF/EPF-related payroll where those unpaid days affect salary and contribution calculations.

NCP (Non-Contributory Period) days in payroll refer to days when an employee is absent without pay, resulting in salary deduction and reduced contributions toward benefits, attendance, and statutory payroll calculations.
