I want to know the exact full form of NCP days used in payroll and HR systems. How is it used in salary slips and attendance records? Please explain in simple terms.

Generally, NCP means "Non-Contributory Period" or "No Contribution Period" on salary slips. It indicates how many days an employee has not been paid for or was not considered for payroll-related contributions, usually because of unpaid leave, absence without pay, or leave exceeding the limits. These days may have an impact on earnings, provident fund contributions, attendance records, or other advantages subject to the company payroll guidelines.

NCP days in a salary slip usually stands for “Non-Contributory Period” or “No Contribution Period.” It refers to the number of days for which an employee didn’t receive salary or wasn’t eligible for PF/ESI contribution, like unpaid leave or absence. I’ve mostly seen it used when payroll deducts pay for leave without pay (LWP).
