What is pre-boarding in recruitment?

I recently heard the term pre-boarding before employee joining. What activities are included in pre-boarding, and why do companies conduct this process before onboarding?

Pre-boarding is the crucial, engaging process that occurs between a candidate accepting a job offer and their official first day of work. It aims to reduce new hire anxiety, prevent offer drop-outs, and complete administrative tasks, ensuring the employee feels prepared and welcomed before they start.

LOP in jobs stands for Loss of Pay. It occurs when employees take unpaid leave or are absent without sufficient paid leave balance, resulting in salary deductions for missed working days.

Pre-boarding in recruitment is the period after a candidate accepts a job offer but before their official first day. During this stage, employers handle tasks like paperwork, background checks, sharing company policies, setting up accounts or equipment, and introducing the new hire to company culture. Effective pre-boarding helps reduce anxiety, improves engagement, and makes onboarding smoother by preparing employees before they start work.
