Attrition is one of the biggest challenges in HR management today. I want to understand how organizations measure Attrition and what strategies help reduce employee turnover effectively.

Employee attrition is the natural, gradual reduction of a company's workforce over time due to retirements, resignations, or illnesses, where the vacated positions are either eliminated or left unfilled. It differs from turnover, which strictly measures the replacement of departing employees to maintain staffing levels.

Attrition is the gradual reduction of employees through resignations, retirements, or departures. High attrition lowers employee retention, increases hiring costs, reduces productivity, affects morale, and disrupts overall business operations and growth.

The word 'Attrition' implies a slow decrease in the number of a company's workforce as employees resign, retire, or leave for other reasons. Increased attrition can adversely impact employee retention in a number of ways: it often means greater expenditure on hiring, diminish productivity and in a different aspect, lower team morale. Also, it results in a loss of highly skilled workers. Organizations generally increase retention rates by offering better salaries, providing ample opportunities for career advancement, creating a good work environment, engaging employees, and promoting work-life balance.
